Minnesota Strike Transitions from LLC to Nonprofit to Amplify Community Impact
Minnesota's premier ultimate frisbee team centers community, equity, and visibility in its goals.
St Paul, MN, May 28th, 2024—Minnesota Strike of the Premier Ultimate League (PUL) announces their organizational transition to a nonprofit organization.
Minnesota Strike, formerly owned by Minnesota Professional Ultimate Team LLC, proudly announces its transition to a nonprofit entity, reflecting a renewed commitment to its mission of advancing community, equity, and visibility for marginalized people in the sport of ultimate. This strategic shift enables Minnesota Strike to expand its mission-driven initiatives and foster shared leadership among community members.
“The Strike has always been a community-centered, mission-driven organization,” said Minnesota Strike Board Chair and former Co-Owner Leslie Boey. “We are thrilled to make these principles an official part of the team’s structure and demonstrate our commitment to supporting marginalized youth and individuals in a predominantly white, male sport.”
The newly formed nonprofit is currently seeking 501(c)(3) status and looks forward to continuing its efforts to increase recreational and leadership opportunities to youth, gender minorities, and racially marginalized individuals. Since its founding in 2020, Minnesota Strike has supported youth tournaments and mentorship opportunities, showcased middle and high school girls at halftime, and hosted no-cost winter pick-up for women and gender-expansive players.

Minnesota Strike is a professional team in the Premier Ultimate League (PUL). The Strike play at Sea Foam Stadium in Saint Paul. The team was undefeated in regular season play in 2023, taking home the Midwest divisional title and ranking third in the PUL.
Strike is Minnesota's first and only professional ultimate team for women & gender-expansive athletes and is a leading voice for gender equity in professional sports.
